เครื่องวัดอุณหภูมิร่างกายใช้สำหรับคัดกรองผู้สงสัยที่เป็นโรคไข้หวัดใหญ่สายพันธุ์ใหม่ 2009 (H1N1) โรคไข้หวัดนก กล้องถ่ายภาพรังสีความร้อน(อินฟราเรด)ซึ่งเป็นกล้อง สำหรับตรวจวัดอุณหภูมิร่างกายแบบไม่สัมผัส โดยนำมาใช้ตรวจวัดผู้ที่สงสัยที่จะเป็น โรคไข้หวัดใหญ่สายพันธุ์ ใหม่2009 ไข้หวัดนก เพื่อคัดแยกผู้ที่มีอุณหภูมิสูงออกจาก ผู้ป่วยทั่วไปและบุคคลปกติโดยไม่ต้องสัมผัสผู้ป่วยซึ่งในปัจจุบันใช้วิธีตรวจวัดอุณหภูมิ จากปรอทวัดไข้หรือใช้ เครื่องวัดอุณหภูมิที่เสียบเข้าทางหูทำให้ต้องสัมผัสผู้ป่วยโดย ตรงเสี่ยงต่อการแพร่ กระจายของเชื้อโรค ซึ่งเทคโนโลยีดังกล่าว สามารถคัดกรองผู้ป่วย ได้หลายคนพร้อมกันและให้บริการตรวจวัดได้อย่างรวดเร็วทำให้แยกผู้ป่วยที่มี่อาการไข้ สูงหรือผู้ป่วยที่อาจมีเชื้อโรคติดต่อร้ายแรงเช่นไข้หวัด2009 ไข้หวัดนกหรือไข้หวัดใหญ่ ได้เพื่อแยกผู้ป่วยไปรับการรักษาในห้องตรวจแยกโรคที่ได้มาตรฐานต่อไป
